Primary School of Arta is situated in the north side of the city of Arta in the northwest of Greece, built
on a beautiful hill. About 110 students (6 to 12 years old) attend the particular school. The school
tries to promote contemporary and good practices without excluding students from education, trying
to improve our school where there are unprivileged students, coming from families with low social
economic level. Children of unemployed people, children with non-supportive family environment as
well as children with easy access to the city center with opportunities to have extracurricular activities
and able to use computer technology. In this school teach 17 highly enlightened, dynamic and
enthusiastic teachers. Most of them are holders of a second degree and they have taken part in
seminars in particular on environmental education. Our school seeks to promote moderns’ ideas and
good practices with the aim of improving it. It encourages creativity and critical thinking of children
through motivating learning processes. The teacher’s aim is to encourage students to create a
positive learning environment on a daily basis, based on respect for diversity, trust and friendly
communication. The school also helps the pupils to develop ways of reading the environment, for
example, understanding their structures and participating in the urban way of life, making tomorrow’s
active citizens.Οur school strengthens the values of respect, mutual help and mutual appreciation of
all participants in the educational process. Our school includes in its aims the exploitation of the
opportunities provided by the European programs for international co-operation, establishing
contacts with other countries and educational systems, training of staff aiming at the upgrading of the
school and the continuous development of the professional qualifications of the educators. This
project will help educators to understand other cultures , increase their self esteem and increase their
potential in the use of new innovative programs and new technologies. We believe in a school based
on cooperation and through this environmental work based on our planet Earth will be able to achieve
it. The person in charge of the project will be the headmistress who is new to the school and is sure
to be the next year. The headmistress is already responsible for the Erasmus + KA1 program and
she has two quality labels from the e twinning program ( National and European ) and her experience
will help in the success of this project. Our school has been involved in a lot of local , regional,
national and international projects. In particular, the first robotic education prize was awarded to the
school in February and the students occupied the 10th place in the pan-Hellenic robotics competition
under the responsibility of the President of the Hellenic Republic.
